Art City Days Balloon Festival

In it’s 50th year of celebration, Springville Art City Days is announcing a new location for one of the community’s favorite events. The Art City Days Balloon Festival, sponsored by W.W. Clyde & Co., has been moved to Cherry Creek Elementary at 484 South 200 East in Springville. The new field will offer more room for pilots to maneuver their massive balloons and provide a great space for festival attendees.

ballon2Admission is free for the Art City Days Balloon Festival – a two-day event held on Friday, June 12 and Saturday June 13. Balloons will launch at 6:30 AM, but participants are welcome as early as 6:15 AM to watch the pilots assemble their balloons and prepare the massive giants for flight. This year’s Art City Days Balloon Festival includes the Hare & Hound Competition where balloon pilots compete to show off their flying skills.

As always, children of all ages are encouraged to attend this community event. Candy and prizes will be dropped from each balloon as it launches from Cherry Creek Elementary School field. Face-painting, helium balloons, bounce house fun and other children’s activities are also part of this favorite community event. Daylight Donuts will be providing free donuts and Sunroc Building Materials will be providing chocolate milk for all attendees. Come early to make sure you get your fill!

Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs to set up along the perimeter of the field to watch the balloons fill up and lift off. Also, bring your cameras and take advantage of some great photo opportunities. As is tradition, submit your best photos to artcitydays@springville.org and enter them in the 2015 Art City Days Balloon Festival Photo contest. And, if you’re posting socially, use the hashtag #artcityballoons and we’ll compile and share your photos in our photo album on the W.W. Clyde Facebook and Twitter pages.

For participants who are interested in getting in a hot air balloon themselves, W.W. Clyde & Co. is sponsoring two tethered balloons to give brief FREE rides to participants – adults and children alike – following the launch of the competing balloons.

We are excited to see all our community friends, including our neighbors from throughout Utah County on June 12 and 13 at the Cherry Creek Elementary School field for the 2015 Art City Days Balloon Festival. This is a tradition you don’t want to miss.
