The scope of this project was to realign US-6 at what was one of the highway’s most dangerous sections in order to make the area safer. This project included 1.2 miles of road widening to 4 lanes, several hundred thousand cubic yards of excavation, crushing 754,994 tons of granular borrow, the building of a precast bridge and large box culvert, the construction of a large MSE wall and a soil nail wall with an exposed surface area of 17,820 square feet, and asphalt paving. Traffic control and public safety were extremely important on the project.
