The Black Ridge from Leeds to Anderson Junction project has been as ongoing project with a goal to improve safety and traffic mobility in UDOT’s Region 4 since 2011. The main goal of this portion of the project was to provide pavement rehabilitation, safety improvements, and the addition of a northbound climbing lane from MP 22 to 28 in Washington County. This lengthening of the existing climbing lane will further improve traffic flow in a section that is heavily used by freight trucks. When completed, I-15 will have a continuous North Bound Climbing lane from south of Leeds to the Iron County line. (MP 20 to MP 42 )
This section of the entire project will consist of W.W. Clyde doing all the earthwork to extend the north bound climbing lanes, including widening several large culverts and expanding two bridges. Sunroc Corporation paved the asphalt and Geneva Rock will complete this section with micro surfacing.
