Construction & Civil Engineering Internships

Intern Experiences

“My internship at WWC marked the beginning of my 20+ year career (so far). I started with very little relevant experience, but WWC has given me the training opportunities and experience I needed to be successful. Beginning as an intern helping out with estimating and scheduling, and subsequently being hired full time, I have been given the opportunity to be a foreman, superintendent, estimator, project engineer, and project manager. That internship literally shaped the direction of my professional life.”

 – W.W. Clyde & Co. Intern (1985)

“I was hired by W.W. Clyde & Co. during my junior year in college where I was able to work as an intern for two years. I started on the estimating team performing quantity takeoffs and compiling subcontractor quotes. From there, I was able to go to a project and work as a grade setter and labor foreman. This was a great experience because I was able to see both the office and the field work. Once school started again, I was assigned back to the estimating department where I worked through the school year. The second summer, I was able to go back to the field and work as a foreman again.

I really enjoyed my time as an intern with W.W. Clyde & Co. I always felt like they wanted me to be involved and contribute to the areas I was assigned to work. After my internship ended, I obtained full time employment with W.W. Clyde where I have now worked for 15 years.”

Why Apply for W.W.Clyde’s Civil Engineering Internships?

“An internship is an ideal opportunity to get to know W.W. Clyde, and for the management of W.W. Clyde to get to know you. We would much rather hire someone into a full time position if they have previously been an intern. Several of our senior managers started their careers in an internship.” – Scott Okelberry, Exec. Vice President
