Leveling the subgrade material before concrete paving

W.W. Clyde was awarded the Redwood Road project to widen the existing two-lane segment of Redwood Road to seven lanes to meet the immediate and future traffic needs on the corridor. Once complete, Redwood Road will provide motorists an improved, more efficient commute between Salt Lake and Utah Counties.

This project implemented the CCPM is Critical Path Project Management system. This is a new scheduling methodology that UDOT is trying for the first time. It is a technique used to complete projects on time by focusing on key tasks. By focusing on the tasks that make up the critical path, the project manager maximizes the chances of completing the project on time and within budget. Another unique detail about this project was that W.W. Clyde served as a CMGC or Construction Manager General Contractor. This is similar to a Design Build project except UDOT was the designer and W.W. Clyde functioned as contractor, where we worked along UDOT during the design phase to help with ideas and were able to suggest all cost saving options.
