The Western Zirconium Subsurface Barrier Wall Project was an environmental remediation project for Westinghouse.  The goal of the project was to contain the onsite contaminates from the plant’s evaporation ponds from entering the ground water.  WW Clyde worked closely with and developed an excellent partnering relationship with the general contractor and the owner.

The initial challenge on the project was to construct a stable working pad through wet lands.  Once a working pad was established then a slurry cutoff trench and sheet pile barrier walls were installed in conjunction with construction of a dike.  WW Clyde was very successful in working closely with the general contractor with innovative scheduling and work techniques to allow the flow of materials and the construction of the work in a very confined working area.
